Do Synthroid and caffeine interact with one another?

Caffeine and Health
freedom_rulz@sbcglobal.net asked:

I am 35-years-old and in relatively good health. I've always drank some iced tea each morning and sometimes in the afternoon. Since I started taking Synthroid, I noticed chest pains and tachycardia (fast heart beat) on days that I drink caffeine. Since I have quit caffeine cold-turkey several days ago, the chest pains and tachycardia have completely disappeared. Could there be a connection there?

I take synthroid and am addicted to Diet Mountain Dew, which has even more caffeine than coffee. I've never had that problem, but of course some people have more or different side effects to medicine than others. Check at WebMD.com to see if this is one of them. Since synthroid does affect your metabolism, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a connection.
