Why does my heart rate increase dramatically when I lay on my stomach upon trying to go to sleep?
Texas 53 asked:
I don't have this problem very often. But if I do, it seems to always happen when I flop over on my stomach to go to sleep. My rate will increase from the 80's to the high 90's–110. Then after about 30 minutes it goes away. Usually my b/p during this is 170's/90's. My doctor changed my b/p medicine two weeks ago. I am in good health, walk daily, have lost 15 pounds in the last 3 months( 172 to 157) don't smoke or drink. I am 53 years old. I am on b/p medicine because caffeine makes my heart race. I had all types of heart tests a year ago and my heart is totally normal. So why do I have these episodes maybe once every 6 months? Can chocolate in a cookie cause this as that is all I had yesterday that I can think of that may of caused it? Other than this episode, my b/p is normal and heart rate is always normal. Thankyou.

The increased heart rate could be your system the increased heart rate could be your system the chocolate has caffeine so if you roll over onto your body trying.
Sounds like a diet issue most likely. Try laying on your side.
Good Luck!
Did you mention this to your doctor last week? Chocolate does contain caffeine and you should avoid all caffeine.
